Electrical Safety

Electrical Safety for Construction Workers

Two warnings can't be emphasised enough:

  • Call before you dig; and
  • Look up and live!

Every year, unnecessary and preventable contacts with energized power lines are made by workers in the construction industry. The Canadian Electricity Association has produced a second video in the “Electricity the Invisible Killer” series to help those in the construction industry prevent serious injury or death due to electrical contacts.

For those who perform construction work in the vicinity of high-voltage electrical equipment, this video will demonstrate how to eliminate the potential for serious or fatal electrical injuries to occur.

  1. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
  2. Establish a Safe Work Plan with your local electric utility.
  3. A change in work plan?  Contact your local utility.
  4. Don’t become a casualty.
Knowledge is Power
