Our Commitment to You
NTPC’s mission is to generate, transmit and distribute electricity in a safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally sound manner. We will strive to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and protect the environment.
About 75 percent of our current service is green – generated by hydro installations in the southern part of the territory and supplied to seven communities. Customers in the other NWT communities are supplied with electricity generated by local diesel or gas engines. These customers are eligible for power rate support provided by the Government of the NWT.
Safety of our staff and for our customers is key. This is the largest service area in Canada, with staff resident in 28 communities spread over 1.3 million square kilometres.
Our rates are regulated by the NWT Public Utilities Board, to ensure fairness for both consumers and the corporation, which must maintain and upgrade equipment and services on an ongoing basis.
